Call EFCC to order over Yahaya Bello — Northern youth group tells Tinubu

By John Fwah, KADUNA, North-West Nigeria: – A Coalition of Northern Youth have appealed to President  BolaTinubu to call the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) to order in dealing with former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

The  groups  in collaboration with the North central Progressive Voice, a social- cultural group comprises of youth and women across the Northern part of the country, addressed a press conference at the NUJ Secretariat in Kaduna, on Thursday, where they displayed large banners and posters with various inscriptions.

The former governor, who had already been declared wanted, is facing trial on alleged money laundering, among others.

The youth groups also described the recent action by EFCC at the residence of the former Governor of Kogi State as unprofessional.

Addressing a press conference at the NUJ Secretariat in Kaduna, the groups’ Spokesperson, Comrade Yahaya Abubakar, urged President Tinubu to call EFCC to order immediately to avoid the degeneration of the crisis.

In advancing their demand and appeal, the groups sent an open letter  to the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency Senator Ubah Sani for onward delivery to President Tinubu.

The groups further took a solidarity walk, carrying  placards with several inscriptions, insisting, they won’t relent until President Tinubu calls EFCC to order and ensure Rule of Law is obeyed in the Yahaya Bello and EFCC saga.

When asked why their principal, Yahaya Bello, will not freely offer himself for investigation, if he’s not hiding anything,  Comrade Abubakar, however said, he’s  not afraid of prosecution, but insisted that the rule of law should be adhered to, as the law provides that one is considered innocent until proven otherwise.
