A beloved Catholic priest, Rev Father Basil Gbuzuo, in Onitsha Archdioceae, Anambra State, South East Nigeria was abducted. According to the Vanguard news, the abduction occurred on the bustling Nkpor-Obosi road, and as at the time of this report, the kidnappers have not made any ransom demands.

Fr. Gbuzuo is widely known throughout Anambra State for his impactful prayers and miracles.

Many lives have been transformed by his prayers and miracles, guiding them from paths of destruction and abject poverty towards fulfillment and abundance in all aspects of their lives.

In a statement, the Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Onitsha, Rev. Fr. Prudentius Aroh, relayed Archbishop Valerian Okeke’s call for prayers for the release of Fr. Gbuzuo

Fr. Aroh’s statement conveyed somber news: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the abduction of Rev. Fr. Basil Gbuzuo. This unfortunate event took place yesterday morning, on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024, around 8 am, along the Eke Nkpor-Obosi bypass.

Fr. Gbuzuo serves as a resident priest at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Ogidi. As of now, there has been no communication from the abductors to anyone.

“His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian M. Okeke, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha, urges all believers and individuals of goodwill to fervently pray for the prompt and secure release of the priest, as we redouble our efforts to secure his freedom.

“We entrust our brother, Fr. Basil, to the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Priests, praying for his swift liberation from the clutches of his captors.”
